We are so excited to report that David Wolyn's asparagus breeding program has received funding of over $1 million from The Asparagus Farmers of Ontario and the Federal Government to develop improved cultivars.   The asparagus breeding program has already developed one of the University’s most successful plant varieties, the Guelph Millennium - a superior cold-weather variety asparagus.  Guelph Millennium was named Seed of the Year in 2005, has received recognition for the sustained high yields and quality of the variety, and comprises more than three-quarters of the Ontario market.
