Barry Shelp was awarded the Gold Medal by the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists at its annual business meeting, which was held this year in Edmonton as part of a larger multi-society meeting entitled Botany 2015.

The Gold Medal is awarded by the society for outstanding published contributions, or for distinguished service to plant biology.

Barry has distinguished himself in both areas, with more than 140 papers published and years of service as Editor of the Canadian J of Botany (now Botany).
