DTM Student to Receive Governor General's Medal

Overview:

For more than 140 years, the Governor General’s Academic Medals have recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada. Each year the University of Guelph awards a bronze medal to the graduating student with the highest cumulative average in any associate diploma program.

Sidney Ryzebol, from the Ontario Agricultural College Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management program, has been awarded this year’s Governor General’s bronze medal!

During his two years working towards and associate diploma in Turgrass management, Sidney has earned grades of 100% in three courses and is graduating with a cumulative average of 95.1 percent.  He has been on the OAC Dean’s list every semester and was also the recipient of the 2014 Robert W. Sheard Scholarship, awarded by Sports Turf Canada to the top sports turf management student in Canada.

Sidney plans to pursue a career in municipal sports turf management and is currently employed as the lead sports field manager with the Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

The medal will be presented on Thursday June 11, 2015, at convocation.
