Plant Agriculture Students Recognized at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society of Agronomy

A number of Plant Agriculture researchers and graduate students participated in the Canadian Society of Agronomy and Canadian Society for Horticultural Science Joint Annual Conference in Lethbridge, Alberta (July 10-12, 2014). Andrea Hitchon, MSc student with Art Schaafsma, and Mehdi Farid, PhD student with Ali Navabi and Peter Pauls were recognized for their contribution at the conference. Andrea Hitchon was the winner of this year’s CSA Pest Management Award and presented an invited talk on her research on the effect of Bt Corn on western corn rootworm. Mehdi Farid won a Student Travel Award and was also one of the three winners of Student Presentation Award for his oral presentation on the inheritance of nitrogen fixation in common bean. Congratulations Andrea and Mehdi !!
