Riley McConachie Wins 1st Place Best Student Presentation at CSRS

Overview:

Congratulations to Riley McConachie, a MSc student in wheat breeding and genetics, for earning 1st place best student oral presentation at the 45th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS from 10-13 June, 2024. His award winning presentation, titled "Estimating Fusarium Head Blight Severity in Winter Wheat using Deep Learning and a Spectral Index," rose to the top amongst a pool of over 50 entrants thanks to his diligence and support from the wheat lab (Connor Belot, Mitra Serajazari, and Helen Booker), the precision ag program (John Sulik), OMAFRA, and Food From Thought.
