Plant Ag's own Fawn Turner was nominated for this years annual Women of Distinction fundraising gala. The event is put on by the YMCA-YWCA, and is in its 19th year celebrating women who have made a significant contribution to Guelph's community. Nominated women range from contributors to arts and culture, business, education, health, technology and science, as well as volunteers in the community.

Turner was nominated under the Young Women of Distinction category. She is working towards her PhD under the supervision of Peter Pauls, chair of the department.

The gala took place May 1, and raised funds for the Guelph Y Teenage Parents Program, providing resources for pregnant/parenting teens.
